motion Jameson
History

John Jameson, originally from Scotland but later embracing Dublin as his home, laid the groundwork for a renowned whiskey legacy. His four sons continued the tradition, creating a heritage that embodied the motto 'Live a bit more and fear a bit less!' Amid intense competition in 1780s Dublin, John Jameson's whiskey stood out, paving the way for an exciting journey. The Jameson Distillery in Bow Street became a self-sufficient hub, enduring challenges like the 1916 Easter Rising and WWI coal shortages.

Despite Prohibition in 1920 and WWII shipping bans, Jameson persevered, symbolized by the iconic Barrelman on the bottle. The legacy passed through generations, facing tests such as the 1966 merger into Irish Distillers Limited and the final distillation in Bow Street in 1970. In 1975, Jameson found a new home in Midleton, County Cork, with its Bow Street location evolving into a celebrated visitor center. The distillery earned the 'World’s Leading Distillery Tour' at the 2018 World Travel Awards.
Today, as we honor the barrelmen's legacy and continue innovating in Midleton, let's raise a glass to Jameson – a journey through history and heritage. Cheers!

Production Jameson
Production

Jameson Irish Whiskey prides itself on its signature triple distillation process, a tradition upheld by Head Distiller Kevin O’Gorman. This method, utilizing three distillations, imparts the renowned smoothness that defines Jameson. The whiskey is meticulously crafted by blending rich pot still whiskey, made from malted and unmalted barley, with the finest grain whiskey, all distilled three times for optimal smoothness.

While the barley is sourced locally in Ireland, the water used in production is sourced from the nearby Dungourney river. Additionally, Jameson imports maize from a farmer in the South of France, ensuring the highest quality ingredients. The casks used for aging are sourced from cooperages in the United States and Spain, previously holding bourbon and fortified wine, which impart distinctive flavors to the whiskey.
With a minimum maturation period of three years on the island of Ireland, Jameson proudly adheres to stringent Irish Whiskey laws. Despite the angel's share—approximately 2% lost to evaporation each year—after over two centuries, Jameson remains committed to maintaining full control over the production process, from grain to glass.
